Silver Blades Ice Rink Gillingham

Job Title: Ice Marshall
Hours of Work: Voluntary
Part time and Casual positions available

Silver Blades Ice Rinks Ltd, part of The Ice Rink Company, are currently looking for Ice Marshals to assist with the day to day running of the Gillingham rink. You will be a responsible and reliable individual who enjoys helping customers and ensures their safety on and off the ice is paramount. You must have a friendly and helpful manner with excellent customer service skills and enjoy working as a team. You must be a confident ice skater with your own skates having reached the ability or equivalent of level 6 Skate UK or above.

Previous work in ice rinks an advantage. First Aid and Health & Safety certificates a bonus, although training can be provided. Applicants will be expected to skate at interview. Incentives available. References compulsory and applicants must consent to CRB check. Any age considered. Hours will include weekends, days and late shifts. Smart appearance essential.

Job Title: Cafe Assistant
Hours of Work: Full Time
Salary:

As a Cafe staff member you will be constantly interacting with customers and other staff members including Management. Your main aim is to ensure all products are available for purchase and they are served in a timely and presentable manner.

The Role

Smooth running of the Café Blu including both the kitchen and seating areas

The applicant will meet the following criteria;

  • Operation of the till as and when required during your shift
  • General cleaning duties within the kitchen & seating areas
  • Ensure that tables are cleared, wiped down and bins emptied when required
  • Prepare hot and cold food as and when required
  • Be polite and courteous to customers & colleagues at all times
  • Be able to deal with minor customer complaints or concerns in a calm and collective manner
  • You may also be asked to operate another food or drink outlet within the facility at Ice Hockey or other events
  • You will assist with the safe evacuation of the café in the event of an emergency evacuation
  • You will make sure that you attend your shift at all times in a well presented manner and wear the company uniform whilst on duty
  • You must attend all staff training sessions scheduled.
  • You will help assist with any specific café daily weekly check sheets
  • You must periodically probe food ensuring the temperature has reached 75 degrees
  • Carry out probe tests for the fridges and freezers
  • Complete the SFBB checks
  • You must always maintain the highest levels of hygiene
  • You must not wear any nail varnish
  • Your hair must be kept away from your face by wearing the hat provided
  • Hands must be washed prior to the start of work and after eating, drinking, smoking or handling any non-food item

As Bar Supervisor you are constantly interacting with customers and other staff members including Management. Your main aim is to ensure all products are available for purchase and that they are served in a presentable manner. To create a warm and friendly atmosphere to all of our customers.

The Role

The smooth running of Bar Blu, including both the bar and seating areas. To provide efficient and profitable bar operations at all times. You are responsible to Managers & General Managers.

The applicant will meet the following criteria;

  • Operation of the till as and when required during your shift
  • To accurately handle cash and credit card transactions
  • To maintain the highest possible standards of personal hygiene and appearance and wear the company uniform whilst on duty.
  • General cleaning duties within the bar and seating areas

  • To ensure you ask for ID when appropriate
  • Be able to deal with all customer complaints in a calm and professional manner

Job Title: Receptionist
Hours of Work: Full Time
Salary:

As receptionist you are the first point of contact for all customers and visitors to Silverblades. You will provide a professional and efficient service. You will also be required to wear the correct uniform and name badge. You must present an excellent customer service manner at all times.

The Role

Operating and maintaining all areas of the reception area & the entrance in its entirety. Ensuring our customers receive a good impression and friendly service at all times. This involves ensuring that no other employees are in the reception area when not required. You must ensure that the area is left clear to show our customers you are available to deal with them first time, every time

The applicant will meet the following criteria;

  • You are responsible for dealing with all customer queries in relation to Silverblades. This will be face to face, by telephone and email
  • You will be responsible for any reporting to your Manager or the Duty Manager any problems or faults with regards to health & safety. This should be done at the earliest opportunity
  • You are responsible for correctly operating the tills, handling cash and using the PDQ machines
  • You should have a full working knowledge of all available products. This includes courses, times, pricing and promotions
  • Answering the telephone in a timely and professional manner, assisting with any queries and responding to messages
  • To accurately handle cash & credit card transactions to ensure that your till is correct at all times
  • On your opening shift you are responsible for holding keys and opening the fire exits, preparing your float and till and complete all morning checks
  • You will assist in controlling the customers when entering the facility, you should ensure you have a radio at all times
  • You are required to take bookings for parties, groups and LTS lessons. You must ensure that all confirmations and deposits are completed accordingly
  • You should be upselling merchandise as well as meal deals and our Ice Card membership
  • You are required to log all verbal and written complaints, ensuring that you also record the closure of any issues raised
  • You are responsible for ensuring the reception desk is kept clean and tidy at all times
  • To assist with marketing administration and data input as required
  • You should ensure a full stock of correct documentation is held in the reception area
  • You must ensure all visitors to the rink are completing the visitors book. Any visitors for maintenance, please ensure the Maintenance Manager is available to deal promptly and hand them any contractual paperwork that is necessary for the contractor to be on site
  • Ensure management are informed of any customer issues or complaints
  • You must ensure all merchandise has been put away at the end of your night shift

Job Title: Ice Technician
Hours of Work: Permanent - Full Time Shift Based Hours
Weekdays 18:00 – 01:30, Weekends 15:30 - 01.00 (shift times subject to changes according to events in the building)

Responsible To: Chief Engineer of the group / Arena Manager / Manager on duty.
Responsible For: Smooth running of all Silver Blades machinery, including equipment relating to the day to day operations of the building, and maintaining a safe ice pad.

As an Ice technician you will be constantly interacting with customers and staff members, including management. Your foremost responsibility will be to ensure that all machinery and equipment is maintained to the highest standards. You must observe the latest Health and Safety laws, ensuring all machinery and procedures comply with industry standards. You will help create a safe environment for both staff members and customers within the building.

The successful candidate will preferably have prior experience in a maintenance position. Experience as a mechanic or electrician preferred but not essential.

There may be times when you are required to undertake duties and responsibilities within other departments, to assist in the smooth running of our operation. Your duties may change from time to time in order to meet the requirements of the business.

  • Ensuring the building is fully fit for purpose prior to opening (from a technical point of view). Informing management if any equipment or the ice pad is unsafe for use.
  • Operating the Plant / Zamboni / Edger & Chipper / and other equipment when required, during your shift. (Specific training will be provided)
  • Dealing with breakdowns and machinery failure in a calm and collective manner.
  • Ensuring all chemicals, gases and other plant components are fully stocked and ordered when necessary.
  • General maintenance of building - basic plumbing, painting, up keep of public and staff areas.
  • General cleaning duties, specifically within all technical areas such as plant room, service areas and technical offices
  • Ensuring all checks (including plant logs and those required by Health and Safety) are completed and filed on time.
  • Attending your rotad shifts at all times in a well presented manner, wearing the company uniform and PPE (if required while on duty). Attending all compulsory staff training sessions
  • Be polite and helpful at all times to the general public.
  • Assisting with the safe evacuation of the building in the event of an emergency.
  • Eventually, carrying out authorised training, as required, to other members of staff.
  • You may be asked to work in other areas of the building / overnight to solve technical issues
